Is Train the Trainer Right for Your Setting?

This course is for you if any of these sound familiar:

You're paying for external trainers year after year, and the knowledge leaves when they do
Your setting supports children with SEND, SEMH, or complex trauma, and generic behaviour training isn't cutting it
You want your own certified in-house trainers who understand your children, your culture, and your systems
You're a MAT, SAT, or PRU that needs to train large numbers of staff consistently, without hidden costs
You need BILD Act compliant training that includes safe physical intervention, not just theory

What Your Trainers Will Walk Away With

Not just knowledge: the skills, tools, and certification to transform your entire setting from within.

Become a Certified In-House Trainer

Your chosen staff will be fully qualified to deliver the complete ProActive Schools programme to every colleague in your setting, with no per-head certificate charges or hidden licence fees.

Master the Science Behind Behaviour

Deep understanding of ACEs, attachment, shame, polyvagal theory, and brain architecture, so your trainers can explain the 'why' behind every strategy they teach.

Deliver De-escalation with Confidence

Practical, setting-specific de-escalation techniques including the A to Z of Behaviours framework, the STOP strategy, and Perry's 3 R's (Regulate, Relate, Reason).

Teach Safe Physical Intervention

BILD Act certified positive handling techniques using +ProActive Building Blocks©, our research-based methodology proven to increase skill acquisition and retention.

Build a Therapeutic Culture From Within

Your trainers become the architects of lasting culture change, embedding a shared language for behaviour that outlasts any external consultant.

Certificate Unlimited Staff, Every Year

Once certified, your trainers can certificate as many staff as you need within allowed ratios. No extra charges per head. No hidden costs. Certificates are requested from us at no additional charge.

The Missing Piece

Imagine Shouting Instructions Through a Locked Door

That's what traditional behaviour management feels like for a child whose stress response has taken over. Their thinking brain is offline. No amount of reasoning, consequences, or raised voices will reach them, because the door is locked from the inside.

In a special school or PRU, this isn't an occasional event. It's the daily reality. Your staff need more than awareness. They need the deep understanding and practical skills to help children regulate, reconnect, and return to a state where learning is possible.

When your own trainers understand the neuroscience behind behaviour, and can teach it to every colleague, your entire setting transforms. The behaviour stops being a crisis to manage and becomes a signal your whole team knows how to read.

The Maths Is Simple

With external training, you pay the full fee every year. With Train the Trainer, your certified trainers deliver and certificate unlimited staff at no additional cost per head. Most settings recoup the investment within the first year.

What Settings Say After the Course

Having our own in-house trainers has been transformative. We no longer wait for external availability; we train new staff within their first month. The consistency across our setting is something we've never had before.

The Train the Trainer course gave me the confidence and the tools to deliver training that actually changes practice. The Building Blocks methodology means our staff genuinely retain what they learn.

We calculated the cost savings over three years and it was a no-brainer. But the real value is having trainers who know our children, our triggers, and our culture. No external consultant can match that.

New DfE Guidance: Is Your School Ready?

Compliance deadline: 1 April 2026

In December 2025, the DfE published new Guidance on Restrictive Interventions in schools, replacing the 2013 Use of Reasonable Force guidance. Schools must comply from 1 April 2026. The guidance requires staff to be “adequately trained” in both preventative strategies and safe physical intervention, and the DfE has noted strong calls for mandatory national training standards.

What the DfE Now Requires

  • Staff must be “adequately trained” in safe use of force and preventative strategies
  • Training must be kept up to date (within the last 12 months)
  • A dedicated Restrictive Interventions Policy is required
  • Governing bodies must review restraint data for disproportionality

Why Train the Trainer Is the Smart Move

  • Your in-house trainers keep all staff trained annually, meeting the 12-month currency requirement
  • BILD Act certified and RRN accredited: the gold standard recognised by Ofsted, DfE, DoH, and CQC
  • Covers both de-escalation and safe physical intervention, as the DfE requires
  • No annual external training fees: sustainable compliance year after year

The DfE guidance also requires schools to maintain a training log showing who was trained, when, by whom, and when certification expires. With your own in-house trainers, you control this entirely, ensuring no gaps in compliance.

Schools must comply from 1 April 2026
